AC/DC brought it's electrifying Rock or Bust Tour to the American Airlines Center in Dallas, TX on Tuesday, February 23, 2016. The 2016 North American tour started earlier this month and is running through April 4th before heading overseas. The tour was originally launched in 2015 in support of the release of their 15th studio album,' Rock or Bust,' and has been running since.
American Airlines Center, home of the Dallas Mavericks of the National Basketball Association (NBA), and the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League (NHL), is also the premier concert venue in Dallas, TX. Bringing in legendary acts such as AC/DC while in it's 15th year of operation is literally no surprise to anyone in the region considering Metallica, Madonna, Cher, Janet Jackson, Justin Bieber and so many other acts have packed the center in recent years.
After touring for multiple decades, AC/DC brings a full catalog of music to perform every single time, and will never, ever disappoint. That is a statement that can rarely be stated for other bands of the same genre that have a similar longevity. AC/DC fans have inherited this music and these songs in a sense since the band is touring constantly, bringing the very classics you want to hear for you and only you. Singing the words back to Brian Johnson, lead vocalist, as he sings "Back In Black," "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap," and every song for that matter, is more than just customary at this point in the band's and fans' lives, it's religious servitude to the Gods of Rock themselves.
AC/DC came on stage shortly after 8:10pm with a cosmic video on screen showing a meteor or asteroid hurtling towards Earth as it passed through space and nostalgic AC/DC emblems or symbols before it collided into the Earth. The ensuing fire on screen then became an explosion of real fire and pyrotechnics as anyone in the first rows could attest to with the sudden temperature increase. Brian Johnson, Angus Young, Chris Slade, Cliff Williams and Stevie Young all entered the stage and opened up with "Rock or Bust," the main single off their 2014 studio album with the same title. The remaining setlist can be viewed below, but it should be noted that Angus Young's guitar solo during "Let There Be Rock," is still without a doubt an experience any and every AC/DC fan or hard rock fan in general, must witness in their lifetime. The band finished the night explosively just as they started their set and ended with, "For Those About To Rock (We Salute You)."
AC/DC recently changed the date of one of their upcoming shows, specifically, the Kansas City, MO show that was scheduled to be performed on Monday, February 29th at the Sprint Center due to Brian Johnson losing a dear friend who's funeral he must fly to the UK for in the timeframe of this show. The new date is Sunday, February 28th at the same venue. For more details on ticket refunds or how your current ticket will be honored, please see the band's message regarding exactly that on their website here.
