Megadeth kicked off their Dystopia World Tour in Dallas, TX at the South Side Ballroom on Saturday, February 20, 2016. Joining them for this show was Havok from Colorado and Children of Bodom from Finland. Suicidal Tendencies is slated to pick up on this tour at the February 26 Las Vegas show. Megadeth released their latest album, Dystopia, on January 22, 2016 and are currently touring in support of that release. Dystopia debuted at number 3 on The Billboard 200. Dystopia is available at: http://megadeth.lnk.to/Dystopia. Megadeth spent some time on the eve of the tour on February 19th at the School of Rock in Frisco, TX performing with students enrolled at the school and they also held a Q & A session.
Colorado thrash metallers Havok opened up the show and tour promptly at 7pm to a packed South Side Ballroom. Though their set was short, it was just enough to get the atmosphere and mood set right. Finnish metallers, Children of Bodom took the stage next without much a delay between set changes and delivered what was arguably one of the loudest performances of the evening.
Megadeth took the stage shortly after 9:20pm, and had an intro video playing as each band member took to the stage. Megadeth's current lineup includes bassist David Ellefson, Lamb of God drummer Chris Adler and Brazilian guitarist Kiko Loureiro who is best known for his work with Angra. Their setlist consisted of 16 songs with one new song from Dystopia, 'Fatal Illusion.' Dave interacted with the audience many times and as always, brought some of the best known guitar riffs in the metal world to the many, many ear drums out in the crowd. The show was definitely a great way to kick off the tour and did not leave anyone disappointed. Be sure to get tickets for any of the upcoming shows on this metal packed tour.
